VIRC Clothing and Uniforms
Suggestions for Master Rowers
Appropriate clothing is the key to exercising comfortably on the water. Especially in winter, you will want layers that you can peel off as you warm up. Avoid cotton clothing – it is worse than useless when it gets wet!
Polypropylene or performance wool shirt; high-visibility recommended
Water-resistant windbreaker (high-viz)
Baseball-style and fleece hats
Spandex shorts or leggings
Wool, polypropylene, or neoprene socks
We walk into the water to launch our boats from the beach at Jensen Point, so you will need water shoes of some sort to protect your feet from the rocks. Crocs and Tevas are popular in the summer; add neoprene socks or neoprene booties in the winter.
Teens Summer Camp
Tight-fitting shorts and shirt, preferably quick-dry. Loose clothing can get caught in equipment and thus is a safety hazard.
Socks to wear in the boat (will get wet!)
Water shoes, crocs, or sandals to wear in water when launching the boat
Tennis shoes
Baseball-style hat
Sunscreen, water bottle, snacks, lunch
